Henry Grant Peabody is an incomparable, harmonious, visionary young man, passionate about serving God and humanity. When the civil war started in Liberia, he was 16 years old and forced to leave his home alone and seek refuge in Ghana on a refugee camp. The refugee camps in Ghana had refugees who had fled their homes because of Liberia’s civil strife and struggles. Henry resided there for six years and experienced hardships, depression, and a lack of hope, just like other refugees. The refugee camps became functional during the civil war, and the UNHCR supported it.

In 1996, Reverend Peabody decided to return to his country, Liberia, in search of his family. While in Liberia, he met a Georgian missionary, Reverend Dr. Michael Helms, who had travelled to Liberia on a mission trip. After a brief interaction at the Liberia Baptist Seminary, Dr. Helms provided his contact information to Reverend Peabody. Little did Reverend Peabody know that Dr. Helms would have been his gateway out of Liberia to the United States for studies. Upon Dr. Helms’s return to the USA, he and Henry stayed connected. In  1997, Dr. Helms and his family assisted in Henry’s relocation to the United States for further studies. Reverend Peabody enrolled at the Truett McConnell College and Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Henry was passionate about serving humanity, and every summer, he served as a summer missionary in different countries along with the Baptist Students Union. Some countries he visited and served in included South Korea, Costa Rica, and Guatemala.

In 2003, Reverend Peabody raised and returned to Liberia with over US$20,000  to support his fellow less fortunate citizens in desperate need of food and clothing. Henry could have lived and worked comfortably here in the U.S. but bearing out of his personal experiences and suffering, he developed a closed relationship with the people who lived without homes and had no means of living a healthy life. His dedication and compassion for philanthropic work and missions compelled him to return to his Liberia to abet those in need.

For five years, Reverend Peabody volunteered in Liberia, helping to repair Churches shattered due to the impact of the civil war.

Reverend Peabody was fortunate to raise over US$25,000 to purchased medication for a Clinic in Owensgrove, Grand Bassa County.  Since then, Reverend Peabody has made numerous mission trips to Liberia, and since 1999, has led and spearheaded efforts to build several hand pumps to provide safe drinking water from the groundwater sources to the villagers who need it for irrigation and other domestic purposes. Most people in these villages are deprived people with limited or no access to safe drinking water.

Since 2015, Reverend Peabody has raised over US$50,000 to build new hand pumps in several villages, providing much-needed relief for those living in those remote areas with little access to fresh drinking water.  In addition to his various relief efforts, Reverend Peabody has also been involved and responsible for building schools, and pitt-holds latrines in villages around Liberia.

In 2018, Reverend Peabody completed a ten-classrooms school building in Owensgrove, Grand Bassa County, where over two hundred young school-age children attend in search of an education.

His Organization, Liberia Mission, recently completed another ten-classroom school building in Zesonar Township, Nimba County. The total cost of these two schools is US$80.000. Besides building new schools, his mission is to build more hand pumps in at least one hundred villages and provide safe drinking water to more than ten thousand villagers.

In March 2019, Reverend Peabody was able to secure over US$200,000 worth of medical equipment and distributed these medical equipment to several hospitals and clinics including Phebe Hospital in Gbarnga, Bong County; G.W Harley Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County, Owensgrove Clinic in Owensgrove, Grand Bassa County, Grand Gedeh Hospital, and LPRC Clinic in Monrovia. His passion and dedication to serving humanity testify to his education at Mercer University and Truett McConnell

College. However, Reverend Peabody emphasizes that his love for assisting people stemmed from his faith in God coupled with the lessons he learned from Rev. Dr. Michael Helms and his spiritual father, Reverend Wade Graber, who is also his mentor and from whom he still seeks advice concerning his mission decisions.

Reverend Peabody holds an Associate of Arts in Humanity degree from Truett McConnell College, a B.A. double major in Christianity and Sociology from Mercer University, and a Master of Human Services Administration from Wilmington University. He also holds a Certificate in addiction counseling from Villanova University.

Reverend Peabody is the former moderator of the South Jersey Baptist Association and former pastor of the First International Baptist Church of Trenton, New Jersey. Reverend Peabody is an Investigator with the State of New Jersey, Division of Child Protection and Permanency, and Founder of the Liberia Mission Outreach International.

Reverend Peabody inspires many young people because of his selfless devotion to humanity and others who face severe hardship in war-torn countries and later immigrate and live in refugee camps. He is a true patriot and would do anything to help the people of Liberia, and humanity. In recognition of his selfless dedication and commitment to humanity, Reverend Peabody was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary on December 9, 2020.  On July 8. 2023, Reverend Dr. Peabody will be awarded a Humanity Award from the Providence Baptist Association of the Americas, and on August 12, 2023, Effort Baptist Church Reunion in the Americas. Reverend Dr. Peabody is married to former Ms. Louise Dennis, and together their Union has been blessed with three lovely children, Henry, Hendryl, and Henson. In his spare time, Henry loves to travel.
